WDCT Shopping Service

We are now able to offer transport for local shopping trips in and around the Whitby area.

If you would like to book a lift on our vehicle to take you in to town and home again or to another local destination such as Sainsbury's or Lidl please get in touch with us on 01947 602982.

You will need to be flexible with the times you would like to go but we will try and accommodate your requested time and day if possible. As usual the service we provide will be door to door.

Please note unfortunately our driver cannot accompany you round the shops the service we are providing is just for the transportation to and from your destination.

Esk Valley Shopper - A community transport service run by Whitby & District Community Transport - Alternating on Thursday's between Whitby & Guisborough

Fares:

• With an Esk Valley Railcard: £2.10 return.
• Without an Esk Valley Railcard: £3.00

This service operates from Westerdale, Castleton, Ainthorpe, Danby & Houlsyke. The service can make small diversions to pick up and set down passengers both in the Esk Valley and in Whitby & Guisborough.

The shopper bus is a demand responsive service, which means that in order to travel you will need to book your travel in advance. To book ring WDCT on the Monday or Tuesday in the week of your journey.

• Returning from Whitby at 1.45 p.m
• This service runs on Thursdays, alternating between Whitby & Guisborough
• This service is not age restricted.

The services are run as demand responsive travel & you must pre-book your journey. Please ring 01947 606440 to book on the Monday or Tuesday. If you ring out of office hours leave a message on the answer phone giving your name, telephone number, number of passengers & pick up point.

Please note: Our operating permit only allows us to run a "book in advance" demand responsive service. Passengers who have not booked cannot be carried.

As a community transport organisation, we are not included in the Concessionary Travel Scheme & you cannot use your "free" travel pass. However, discounted fares for holders of the Esk Valley Railcard still apply.
